Opening Note
I read about Luis Pasteur, the founder of modern medicine. While he was in primary school, at the end of a year, the principal of the school stated that he was “the weakest, undersized and unpromising student in the school”. Fifty years later, in France, a referendum took place to designate the most influential figure of all times. People decided that Luis Pasteur was the winner. He was 73 years old at that time.
He was invited to give a speech, but his health prevented him from doing so. However, he sent a message that was read by his son. In that message, Luis Pasteur said:
“The future will belong not to the conquerors, but to the servants”.
Not those who prepare themselves to conquer the world will dominate the future, but those who are ready to serve their brothers will be the future of the world.
Charis staff, you – our friend, partners and collaborators, I- we are all called to serve. We are called to serve God by serving others. We invite you to be servants of the Kingdom of God together with us in a world seeking only earthly possessions and divided by conflicts and social, moral and economic problems.

Charis Highlights
2 CULTURES 1 GOD
We were happy to host in August a group of 23 people from St. Stephen’s Church, Tonbridge, the main partner of our mission. During their ten-day visit, we served in two churches: Nehemiah Church in Tileagd and the Hungarian Baptist Church in Sântion.
Together we visited the elderly house in Dumbrava and the “Village of Hope” orphanage in Ineu. We marveled at the beauties of the Apuseni Mountains, the Bears’ Cave in Chişcău and enjoyed the thermal waters from Felix Spa. We worked together to build a playground called “Dănuţ’s Farm”, one of the most beautiful projects
done by an English team in Charis.

THE PLAYGROUND “DANUT’S FARM”
Together with the group from St. Stephen’s Church we worked for a few days in transforming a part of the farm in a playground. We cleaned the space, we fixed some wooden panels on the walls of the former pig’s house, we repaired the concrete structures, we built wooden benches, we installed some special equipment for the playground and constructed a crazy golf course.
At the end of our work, on the 16th of August, we invited 25 children from different places (the Gypsy children from Tileagd, the orphan children from Ineu and some children from Oradea) at the opening party. It was a special celebration and a great way of putting an end to the efforts of the English team. You can see more pictures on Facebook by clicking here.
GIVE AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN TO YOU
One of our daily concerns is to make people happy by giving them our time and resources. As part of this program, we spent some lovely moments in two special places, together with the group from St. Stephen’s Church. One afternoon was spent together with the children from “Village of Hope” in Ineu.
We played together, we sang together, we talked to them and gave them gifts which were happily received by each child. One morning we visited the elderly house in Dumbrava. We talked to them, we sang together and gave them staple food and other gifts necessary for covering the expenses
A DREAM WEEKEND
This project was part of OPENED DOORS program. At the beginning of September we were happy to have together with us a group of Romanian and Gypsy children from a Pentecostal church in Aghireş- Halt, Cluj. It was a blessed time both for them and for us. They played together, they studied the Bible and did crafts. At the end of their stay, many of the children came up to us and said: “We would like to spend some more time in Charis. We do not want to go home!” You can see more pictures on Facebook by clicking here.
DANIEL’S VISIT TO THE UK
12 years after his departure from the orphanage and arrival in Charis, as a response to the kindly invitation and support from St. Stephen’s Church, Tonbridge, Daniel Balog spent a blessed holiday in England.
Prayer Requests
Viorel and Florica, a family of evangelical Christians that do a wonderful ministry with the elderly from Dumbrava. Pray that God may bless their effort and ministry.
Mariana, one of the people that strongly supported Charis ministry this year is an evangelical Christian that underwent two cancer surgeries. Pray that God may keep her healthy and that He may give her grace and abundant blessings.
Charis ministry depends on God and you. For October-December 2014 period of time, we need 6000 Euros for the salaries, the tax salaries, all the additional taxes and daily expenses. Pray that God may provide this money. If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here.
Urgent Need
The cold weather in approaching and soon winter will set in and we have not been able to finish the toilets for the conference room. In order to protect that space and finish the interior we need 800 Euros. If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here
