Opening Note:
People consider each December as a month of gifts and indirectly, as a month of joy. Children can’t wait for the month of presents. Firstly, they enjoy the snow sent by God to “dress” and endow the nature. Secondly, they enjoy the idea that Santa is coming and they are getting ready to receive their presents. Joy is what portrays children in this period.
Families are glad that the month of gifts is approaching, a time when they get to meet the loved ones. Parents wait for their children and grandchildren to come home, preparing for them the best food and gifts. Children and grandchildren are getting ready for their meeting with parents and grandparents. The hope of getting together fills their hearts with excitement.
Christians also enjoy the month of December as the celebration of Jesus’ birth is approaching. This is the most beautiful and significant celebration of Christianity. Christmas has always been the time that brought happiness in the hearts of many people. Each time, we remember the precious gift that God has given to mankind: Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior.
Children, families, and the Christian community enjoy the gifts they have received. However, let us not forget that joy is not in things, it is in us (Richard Wagner). When this is a reality, we need to do what George Byron said: To have joy, one must share it!
Even though the month of gifts is over, we invite you, in the months to come, to continue sharing the happiness that God has brought into our lives.

Charis Projects Updates
AGAPEO
In the past years, each December we have focused on the project Give and you will receive. Throughout this project, we try to bring joy to children. In 2016 we made and distributed 100 gifts for children from poor families in Oradea. You can watch here a short movie made on this occasion.
CHARIS CENTER
In this period, we managed to finish an important part of Charis multifunctional center, namely, the rainwater collection system. We built 4 networks to collect rainwater. Therefore, we managed to protect the building from rainwater infiltrations.
We finished the canopy placed at the entrance to the kitchen. This was extremely important in order to protect the kitchen and the warehouse from rain or snow.
CHARIS FARM
Lately, we have been preparing the farm for winter. We updated the animal shelters (goats, dogs, and chicken) so they could pass safely the winter period. We have also prepared the beehives for winter. What is more, we made and stored the food/fodder for the animals. We picked the last vegetables from the greenhouse, cleaned the land and protected the plants that have to survive the winter. We picked and stored the walnuts; we picked the grapes and made grape juice.
AGAPEO – The community from Dumbrava, Tinca
In the buildings managed by Viorel and his family, placed in 3 villages (Dumbrava, Râpa, and Tinca) live 220 people. Most of them come from the streets or from hospitals. We enjoyed the fact that in December we managed to visit them together with our small group from Hope Church. We made and distributed cakes and gifts to the 110 people living in the 4 houses the family owns in Tinca. The time spent there was a real blessing.
